FreeTunes - Conversion utility for media files
Review by on
Audio CDs are becoming obsolete, due to the widespread of smartphones and other mobile devices. If you want to enjoy your audio tracks on your mobile phone or portable player, you can use FreeTunes to convert them. The software can recognize audio CDs, DVDs, as well as simple audio and video files in various formats and it gives you the possibility of converting them to more familiar formats, like MP3, Wave, OGG and others.

The program is free to try for 7 days, without any functionality restrictions. Its setup file is roughly 22 and a half MB and it doesn't take more than a minute to complete the installation process. You can use the software on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8, without sacrificing too many resources or meeting any special requirements.

The user interface has a familiar layout, which makes it quite easy to convert media files. All you have to do is import your files, select an output folder and format and click a Start button. Imported files are shown in a list, along with various details. The same information is displayed in a column, on the right side of the interface, where you can also edit ID3 tags and add cover images.

Besides converting media files, the program can also perform a series of automatic processes, like renaming the files, retrieving covers and embedding them into ID3 tags, and more. Additionally, you can set it to shut down the computer or to send the converted tracks to iTunes when the conversion process is complete.

Pros:
The program's functionality is straightforward. It is capable of converting almost any media files to popular formats. Also, it can be set to rename the files and to retrieve cover images automatically.

Cons:
The trial version can be used only for 7 days.

FreeTunes gives you the possibility of making your media files compatible with your favorite devices without any effort.
